This is a planktonic species (Ref. 85339). Individuals hang motionless with the ventral fin facing down while searching for prey at night; feeds on bioluminescent prey, medusae, siphonophores, crustaceans and salps (Ref. 2376).

Members of the order Neotaenioglossa are mostly gonochoric and broadcast spawners. Life cycle: Embryos develop into planktonic trocophore larvae and later into juvenile veligers before becoming fully grown adults.
