Intertidal to subtidal, in rock pools (Ref. 75840). In Belize, it was found in a submarine cave near Columbus Cay (Ref. 87209). In Hong Kong, found as single individuals in dead coral heads, protectively enclosed within a borehole. Secretes a matted, coarse, byssal net (Ref. 125512).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
