Introduced in the Caspian Sea in the 1930s and 1980s and in Aral Sea in the 1950s (Ref. 2756). Found along the littoral zone, in areas with algal cover. Euryhaline. Omnivorous (Ref. 2756).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
