Up to 16 cm wide, flat, disk-shaped, gelatinous substance very delicate; exumbrella uniformly granulated; oral arms lanceolate, finely frilled, about as long as radius of disk; gonads long, narrow, transversely folded bands; tentacles fairly long; colorless.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
