Collected for subsistence in the northern part of the area. Only P. sinuosa is present in the western part of the Indian Ocean; exploitation in this area not known (Ref. 348). Intertidal, on mud and fine to coarse sand (Ref. 75840). Discretely motile suspension feeder (Ref. 125928).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
