Inhabits mangroves, rivers and floodplains. Nocturnal and crepuscular; found singly or in groups of up to fifteen individuals. Feeds on a variety of prey including crabs, fish, snakes, and insects; although mudflat crabs is a year-round staple in their diet (Ref. 79550).
