Body: Oblong. Valves: Colored gray to greenish brown, or speckled with red; strongly sculptured. Lateral areas: Strongly elevated by 3 or 4 very coarse large, beaded ribs. Jugal tract: Longitudinal rows of fine beads. Central areas: Twelve very sharp, granulose, longitudinal ribs. Girdle: Very fine scales and an occasional single hair (Ref. 281).
Under rocks, is not rare in coralline reefs, biotope of Porites sp. (Ref. 292); intertidal and sublittoral, under stones (Ref. 2022, page 121).

Members of the class Polyplacophora are mostly gonochoric. Life cycle: Eggs hatch into lecitotrophic planktonic trocophore larvae (no veliger stage) which later metamorphose and settle on the bottom as young adults.
