Краткое описание морфология

Umbilicus has deep, round-shouldered concavity (Ref. 346), not filled with a concretion; reduced color markings on shell (Ref. 275).

биология     глоссарий (например epibenthic)

Consumed by artisanal fishers and supports small fisheries for private and public aquaria and research trade (Ref. 346). Occurs at depths of 0 to 500 m on the continental shelf and slope. Broken shell washed up on beach (Ref. 88739). Has poor vision; instead, utilizes scent and touch to recognize and look for food. At night, it actively forages at 20 m depth. It adjusts gases contained in its chambered body to facility vertical movement (Ref. 101162).

Life cycle and mating behavior половая зрелость | размножение | нерест | Eggs | Fecundity | Larvae

Members of the class Cephalopoda are gonochoric. Male and female adults usually die shortly after spawning and brooding, respectively. Mating behavior: Males perform various displays to attract potential females for copulation. During copulation, male grasp the female and inserts the hectocotylus into the female's mantle cavity where fertilization usually occurs. Life cycle: Embryos hatch into planktonic stage and live for some time before they grow larger and take up a benthic existence as adults.
