زيست شناسي     واژه نامه (بعنوان مثال epibenthic)

One of the smallest species of the genus: mantle length of smallest mature males measure 1.10 cm; and smallest mature females are 1.4 cm. A very distinctive feature is the male copulatory apparatus and the female bursa copulatrix that distinguishes this species from the rest of the genus (Ref. 1695). Epibenthic. Lives on muddy bottoms and mainly on the continental shelf, although occasionally found along the slope. Never abundant; often captured with Sepietta oweniana and Rondeletiola minor; consumed locally (Ref. 1695).

Life cycle and mating behavior بلوغ | تولید مثل | تخم ریزی | Eggs | Fecundity | Larvae

Members of the class Cephalopoda are gonochoric. Male and female adults usually die shortly after spawning and brooding, respectively. Mating behavior: Males perform various displays to attract potential females for copulation. During copulation, male grasp the female and inserts the hectocotylus into the female's mantle cavity where fertilization usually occurs. Life cycle: Embryos hatch into planktonic stage and live for some time before they grow larger and take up a benthic existence as adults.
