Minimum depth from Ref. 83942. This species is found in intertidal areas (Ref. 83942), particularly on rocky bottoms (Ref. 3565). Rarely found in reef flats and lagoons and cryptic (Ref. 102252). Feeds occasionally on cone shells on experimental observations (Ref. 108108). Deposit feeder (Ref. 90951). Found in waters less than 30m. Associated with coral communities. Nocturnal. Dwells among dead coral and sandy substrates (Ref. 129602).

Members of the class Asteroidea exhibit both asexual (regeneration and clonal) and sexual (gonochoric) means of reproduction. Life cycle: Embryos hatch into planktonic larvae and later metamorphose into pentamorous juveniles which develop into young sea stars with stubby arms.
