Up to 3.5 cm wide (2.5 m at coronal groove); umbrella with dome-shaped apex; rhopalar pedalia slightly narrower than the tentacular; marginal lappets evenly rounded; eight adrarial gonads W-shaped; ring muscle continuous; no ocelli with lens; brownish-red coloration over whole medusa.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
