Minimum depth from Ref. 116013. Estuarine (Ref. 116013). This is a brackish-water hydroid that temporarily tolerates pure saltwater. It is found on a variety of substrates, including bivalve shells and barnacles (Ref. 87801). Colonial (Ref. 19).

Members of the order Anthoathecata are mostly colonial A-form hydroids. Life cycle: The zygote develops into planula inside the gonophore and is later released as an actinula which metamorphoses into polyp stage.
