Intertidal and shallow subtidal, to depths of 35 meters (Ref. 132434). On rock pools (Ref. 124789). Also found in the mid-shore area of sheltered shores (Ref. 125338). Associated with fouling communities, preferring areas with relatively fast flowing waters. Reported from Hong Kong to be found in a marine cave (Ref. 79729).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
