Small, with a body length of 1 to 2 cm. Color varies with the host: from bright to dark red, and purple to almost black, with seven fine longitudinal white lines. Rostrum is straight, with four to five dorsal teeth. Ventral teeth absent.
Found clinging to the spines of sea urchins, with claws normally extended in parallel with the body (Ref. 125532).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
