This species is found on rocky substrates, and is epibiotic on scallops (Zygochlamys patagonica) or algae at depths of 5 to 30 m. It is associated with the zoanthid Parazoanthus elongatus (Ref. 87801).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
