Common in shallow waters but rare in deep water to upper bathyal depths. Attached via its byssus to rocks or Acropora corals or on sandy bottom among coral rubble (Ref. 101147).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
