Könsmognad: Lm ?  range ? - ? cm Max length : 6.0 cm TL hane/ej könsbestämd; (Ref. 82093)
Thalli up to 6 cm high, attached by a small stupose holdfast. Narrow dichotomously branched straps (0.8-1.2 mm) with uniform width throughout the thallus. Smooth margins and surface. Medulla and cortex are uniformly one-layered. Sporangia form a well-defined line in the median part of the straps, but is absent along the margins. Sporangia (80-95 μm in diameter) are borne on a single stalk cell and are not surrounded by an involucrum. Gametangia not observed (Ref. 82093).
Characters defining D. rigida include the erect growth form, the stiff texture and the single stupose holdfast (De Clerck and Coppejans 1999) (Ref. 82093). Collected in pools of the sub-littoral fringe (Ref. 82093).
