Definition of Term

family selection
(English) An artificial selection program in which superior families rather than superior individuals are chosen for breeding. Family in this context refers to related individuals, and not to the taxonomic rank. (See also: selection, breeding, strain)
sélection de famille
(French) Un programme de la sélection artificiel dans lequel les familles supérieures plutôt que les individus supérieurs sont choisis pour l'élevage. Famille dans ce contexte fait référence aux individus apparentés, et pas au rang taxonomique. (See also: selection, breeding, strain)
seleção familiar
(Portuguese) Programa de selecção artificial em que as famílias e não os indivíduos em si próprios são escolhidos para os cruzamentos. Por famílias, neste caso, entende-se indivíduos relacionados e não o grupo taxonómico em si. (See also: selection, breeding, strain)
