Short description Morphology

0.7 cm wide, 0.3 to 0.5 cm high; exumbrella with nematocyst warts; ring furrow deep and marginal lappets long, oval 80 to 100 gastric cirri in each of the four groups. Each group arising from a stout gelatinous peduncle; four leaf-shaped gonads; tentacles with a terminal knob-shaped.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
