Thin to thick crust: 0.5 - 3 cm with a large number of fistules and oscular tubes, 0.5 cm in diameter, 3 - 5 cm long, departing from it. Tubular walls paper thin, semitransparent. White, or tan externally and internally (Ref. 415).
Maximum body thickness is 3 cm (Ref. 415). Mangrove roots (Ref. 415).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
