Short description Morphology

5 cm wide, with shallow concavity at centre of exumbrella; 18 to 22 rhopalis; lappets very indistinct, four in each octant; mouth-arms cylindrical, one and a half times as long as bell radius, branched tree-like; numerous small, flattened, expended, leaf-shaped vesicles between mouths; no ribbon like filaments.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
