It has lengths of 31 cm, maximum total body length; 20 to 25 cm, average total body length; 12 cm, carapace length (Ref. 4). Inhabits shallow waters at depths between 1 and 90 m, mostly between 1 and 5 m; among rocks, often in the surf zone, sometimes in somewhat turbid water. It is gregarious and nocturnal (Ref. 4).
Brood and pelagic duration period lasts 1.5 (Ref. 81135) and 5 months (Ref. 81163), respectively.
