Definition of Term

White fish
(English) General term for fishes which have fat concentrated in the liver, not the flesh; lean fish with less than 2% fat in the flesh, e.g. cod. Used in the United Kingdom. Note that whitefish is a widely used common name especially for members of the Salmonidae (Coregoninae). (See also: Fatty fish)
