Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Maximum depth from Ref. 106464. Very common along shallow rocky areas. Hides among rocks during the day and forages over the surface of rocks at night (Ref. 106464). Common benthic grazer in shallow subtidal habitats. Diet is largely unknown, but was observed to actively graze on ascidian recruits in a laboratory setting or prevent recruitment of bryozoans in cages (Ref. 105187).

Life cycle and mating behavior Maturity | Reproduction | Spawning | Eggs | Fecundity | Larvae

Gonochoric (Ref. 833). Males undergo three molt stages (typus, intermedius and robustus), all of which are mature. Mating behavior: Male follows the female and embraces the latter with its second pereiopods in between, although females prefer the robustus males (Ref. 106464).
