Short description Morphology

Shell moderate, having 8-9 flat sided whorls. Sutures are impressed. There are about 5 spiral striae on upper whorls, and 15 on body whorls. Numerous pronounced ribs are present on the upper whorls. Shell has a knobby appearance. Outer lip straight, siphonal canal short, and the columella is smooth. Shell is dark grey or brown. Operculum is brown and horny.

Members of the order Neotaenioglossa are mostly gonochoric and broadcast spawners. Life cycle: Embryos develop into planktonic trocophore larvae and later into juvenile veligers before becoming fully grown adults.
