Short description Morphology

Trunk with 3 slender median tubercles half as tall as ocular tubercle; lateral processes with similar dorsodistal tubercles and many short, broad, anterior and posterior lateral tubercles. Neck short, with 4 lateral tubercles; ocular tubercle at extreme anterior. Proboscis tripartite. Abdomen very long. Chelifore scapes 1-segmented. Femorae with single raised, mediodorsal cement gland. Claws of uniform length on all legs (Ref. 2115, p. 15).

Members of the class Pycnogonida are gonochoric and sexually dimorphic. During copulation, male usually suspends itself beneath the female. Fertilization occurs as the eggs leave the female's ovigers. Males brood the egg masses until they hatch. Life cycle: Eggs hatch into protonymphon larva then to adults.
