Description of life cycle and mating behavior | Oviparous; simultaneous spawner. Oogenesis lasts for 4 months; spermatogenesis lasts for 2.5 months. Oocyte development is synchronous, takes place in the mesohyl; spermatozoa development is asynchronous, within the cyst scattered around the mesohyl. During spawning, both oocyte and spermatozoa leave the sponge through an excurremt canal (Ref. 100660). |
