Definition of Term

boat seine
(English) Net, consisting of two wings, a body and a bag, operated from a boat, generally used on the bottom, where it is hauled by two ropes, usually very long, set in the water so as to ensure that as many fish as possible are driven or herded towards the opening of the net.
senne de bateau
(French) Filet formé de deux ailes, d'un corps et d'une poche, manoeuvré à partir d'un bateau, généralement utilisé sur le fond où il est halé par deux cordages, habituellement très longs, mis à l'eau de manière à assurer le plus grand rabattement possible du poisson vers l'ouverture du filet. Le type le plus représentatif de cette catégorie est la senne danoise.
