Girdle: Medium wide; sandy, fleshy and thickly covered with bristles. Murco: Highly posterior. Central areas: Granulose cross ribbing with those cross ribs coming from the jugal area heavier until they meet midway the heavier cross ribs coming from the lateral areas. Lateral areas: Broad-ribbed. Color of valves: Black with occasional white stripe down sides of dorsal ridge. Color of girdle: Cream with reddish brown hairs and granular (Ref. 296). |
Habitat: Intertidal (Ref. 289); found in mid to high tide zones from Puget Sound to Mexico on rocks, in crevices or among barnacles and mussels (Ref. 312). Occurs from mid to high tide mark. |
