Family:  Alpheidae (snapping shrimps)
Max. size:  0.11 cm CL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 17 - 250 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Eastern Africa to Japan and Australia.
Biology:  Minimum depth from Ref. 107627. Commonly associated with alcyonarians and sometimes with bryozoans and sponges (Ref. 69553). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
