Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 10 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: from central East Africa, not in the northwest Indian Ocean, to Melanesia; north to southern Japan, and south to northern Queensland.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Collected where abundant. Shell used in shellcraft (Ref. 349). Common on various shallow water bottoms, such as grassy sand flats, coral sand or dead coral, and coral reef areas. Low in the intertidal zone and shallow subtidal levels (Ref. 349).
