Environment:  epiphytic; marine; depth range 0 - 1 m
Distribution:  Atlantic and Indo-Pacific Ocean.
Diagnosis:  Minute thalli forming entangled mats. Pericentral cells: 4. Branches: developmentally replacing trichoblasts. Rhizoids: openly connected with pericentral cells. Scars cells: common in decumbent axes; trichoblast in erect filaments branched 1 to 2 times. Branch tips with tetrasporangia in long straight series (Ref. 87158).
Biology:  In Belize, it was found in a submarine cave near Columbus Cay (Ref. 87209).
