Max. size:  11.5 cm CL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,500.0 g
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 100 m
Distribution:  Southeast Pacific and Southwest Atlantic: from Valdivia to Cape Horn, Chile, north to Santa Catarina, Brazil including Falkland Island. Subtropical to temperate.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Minimum depth from Ref. 2679. Juveniles are found attached to holdfasts of Macrocystis sp. providing them with mechanical shelter. While adults are found in sheltered inshore waters with soft and hard bottoms (Ref. 87801).
