Family:  Mesodesmatidae (wedge clams)
Max. size:  8 cm SHL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 6 - 8 m
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: Endemic to New Zealand. Also found in Chatham Island.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Intertidal, common near the mouths of estuaries. Inhabits coarser sediments. Suspension feeder with short siphons, living near the sediment surface (Ref. 106920).
