Family:  Muricidae (purpuras, murex and rock shells)
Max. size:  3.8 cm SHH (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 55 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: Alaska to northern Baja California. Subtropical to boreal.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on rocky beaches, along the intertidal zone to 55 m depth. Associated with and known to attack giant chitons, Cryptochiton spp. (Ref. 95344).
