Family:  Muricidae (purpuras, murex and rock shells), subfamily: Rapaninae
Max. size:  7 cm SHL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 12 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific. Tropical and subtropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Used as food by some coastal populations. Distribution imperfectly known, because of frequent confusions with Nassa francolina (Ref. 349). Inhabits under corals, slabs and stones. Shallow subtidal zones (Ref. 349).
