Distribution:  Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean and Western Indian Ocean: from High Arctic to northern Gulf of Mexico and Brazil, Europe then east to Turkey and Gulf of Suez, Egypt. Polar to subtropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in estuarine and inshore areas on sandbanks (Refs. 2780, 96352) and muddy bottoms. A surface deposit feeder (Refs. 87179, 96352) (Ref. 2780).
