Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 180 m
Distribution:  Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea: north of Finland across the Mediterranean basin and the Adriatic Sea to the Guinean Gulf.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum length of female (Ref. 106625) is based on occurrence; to be replaced with a better reference. Values are in diameter. Subtidal (Ref. 106814). Not commonly found intertidally; from sublittoral to a depth of around 180 m (Ref. 106815). Inhabits heterogeneous muddy sandy bottom (Ref. 106592). Mobile carnivorous species (Ref. 96498).
