Distribution:  Southeast Pacific and Southwest Atlantic: Chile, Peru and Argentina. Subtropical, tropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on exposed rocky shores (Ref. 1394). Sometimes enters estuaries and rarely freshwater habitats, where it is marginally sympatric with Lutra canadensis provocax (Ref. 1522). Feeds on crabs, shrimps, mollusks, and fish; sometimes freshwater prawns (Ref. 1394). Found on exposed rocky shores.
