Environment:  pelagic; marine; depth range 0 - 5 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean and the Antarctic: Amsterdam Island. Subtropical to temperate.
Diagnosis:  Culmen: 14.381 cm; tarsus: 11.333 cm; wing: 64.0 cm.
Biology:  Known to breed on central plateau 500 to 600 meters. Total population is 70 birds or 15 to 19 pairs, where only 10 breed annually (Ref. 84934). Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals. Minimum and maximum depth ranges are based on behavior of species of the same genus (Ref. 120208). This will be replaced with better references. Scavenging; surface seizing; offshore, pelagic (Ref. 356).
