Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 2000 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Colonies have encrusting bases on which cylindrical columns are developed that may reach 2 m in height. Septo-costae are thick, in two alternating orders. Tentacles remain extended during the day giving columns a furry appearance. Grey-brown in color.
Biology:  Zooxanthellate (Ref. 116012).
