Family:  Calyptraeidae (slipper shells)
Max. size:  5 cm DL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 70 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific, Western Atlantic, and the Mediterranean. Introduced in the Northeast Atlantic.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  From sublittoral sediments (Ref. 1314). It is a sessile-burrower, suspension feeder (Ref. 96498).
