Distribution:  Atlantic, the Mediterranean, Pacific and Antarctic Atlantic. Tropical to polar.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in the outer continental shelf and slope (Ref. 116106). Rapidly swims in a spiral pattern, engulfing its prey whole (Ref. 2376).
