Family:  Alpheidae (snapping shrimps)
Max. size:  2.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 60 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: South Africa and Gulf of California to Colombia and Easter Island. Tropical and subtropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Exclusively associated with pocilloporid corals (Refs. 80448), like Pocillopora damicronis (Ref. 108491), commonly found in the sublittoral zone to depths of about 50 m (Ref. 69553). Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833).
