Remarks Most common on protected outer coast (Ref. 121884) but also found offshore (Refs. 67209, 121894). It is found on rocky and soft bottoms from the very low intertidal to a depth of 30 meters (Ref. 865). Also occurs in lower tide pools and subtidally to 90 m (Ref. 121884). Often buried in sand (Refs. 116614, 121884) and found under rocks (Ref. 116614). Also found in bays and estuaries (Ref. 121888). Scavenger and predator (Ref. 116614).
