Remarks | Host Specificity: This fluke may be a characteristic parasite of Atlantic bonito, but reports and records are too incomplete to be certain. It also occurs in a variety of other fishes, including many big game fishes. Damage to Host: The many hundreds of encysted flukes, that have been reported in each liver of some Atlantic bonito, could injure this host. The very heavy infections of gut flukes, that have frequently been reported from this host, must also be injurious. Habitat (vertebrates): king mackerel; Spanish mackerel; Atlantic bonito; Atlantic mackerel; king mackerel; crevalle jack (Ref. 359). |
