Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea: from Azores to Germany, south to Senegal and east to Turkey.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum depth from Ref. 122948. Found in the contiinental shelf and slope (Ref. 105628), where it is most frequent in the former (Ref. 122984). Occurs in the infralittoral zone to a depth of 700 m (Ref. 122984). Also lives in circalittoral and bathyal soft bottoms (Ref. 122983). Inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms (Ref. 122942). Offshore transition species (Ref. 122985).
