Distribution:  Endemic to Antarctica. Found to stray north to the southern parts of South America, South Africa, Australia and southern Pacific islands (e.g., New Zealand).
Diagnosis:  Wing: 31.15 cm.
Biology:  Total Length: 40 to 46 cm; Wingspan: 101 to 104 cm (Ref. 8812). Feeds mainly on epipelagic fish, Pleuragramma antarcticum (Ref. 5056), Electrona antarctica (Ref. 4633), squid (Ref. 4633), Antarctic krill Euphausia superba (Ref. 3930). Feeds by surface seizing and plunging; pursuit plunging; pack-ice.
